The CFMOTO Aspar Team rider David Alonso has fought for the podium until the end. Jake Dixon has finished fourth after recovering five positions.
CFMOTO Aspar Team rider David Alonso has completed a great comeback to fifth position at the DutchGP. The young Colombian has suffered a lot throughout the weekend, but in the race he has managed to take a step forward that has allowed him to fight for the podium until the last corner. Alonso has always remained in the front group, which has been made up of more than ten riders for much of the race, and has managed to ride in second position. In the last laps, the group has stretched and Collin Veijer and Iván Ortolá have opened a gap at the front. Until the finish line, Alonso has fought in an intense battle for the last place on the podium with David Muñoz and José Antonio Rueda. In the end, Muñoz has finished third and the CFMOTO Aspar Team rider has ended in fifth position. Ortolá has won the race, after overtaking Veijer by just twelve thousandths, to achieve his first victory of the season. The Dutch’s second place takes him to second place in the World Championship, surpassing Dani Holgado, who could only finish eleventh in Assen, while Alonso has extended his lead to 39 points. The CFMOTO Aspar Team also leads the teams’ championship with a 23-point advantage over the second placed.
CFMOTO Aspar Team rider Joel Esteban has finished in fifteenth position in Assen. The Spanish, who has started from ninth after achieving one of his best qualifying in Moto3 yesterday, has made a great start and has climbed to fourth. However, Esteban has had to complete a double long lap penalty that has conditioned his race. Esteban has fought until the end to recover the positions lost with the penalty and has finished fifteenth to score one point. With no time to rest, next week the Moto3 riders will have a new opportunity to score points in the GermanGP, the last before the summer break.
Ai Ogura has won the Moto2 DutchGP race winner, with Fermín Aldeguer and Sergio García on the podium. Aldeguer, who has started from pole, has maintained the first position in the first laps and has been able to make room at the front, while Ogura and García battled for the other two places on the podium. With seven laps remaining, Aldeguer has had to serve a long lap penalty for exceeding the track limits and has dropped to third place. However, his pace has been very strong at all times and he has been able to overtake García and finish just half a second off Ogura. The victory of the Japanese, which is his second victory so far this season, tightens the Moto2 World Championship.
